Our Shoe Box Gifts

Wow ....thank you so very much for supporting your children and generously providing so many goodies to fill our shoeboxes with gifts for those people in our community not as lucky as us.
We have beautiful presents that will bring a big smile to the face of many elderly men and women teenage boys and girls, mums and dads and children of all ages.
This is a great example of our school value of Community in action. A Merry Christmas for everyone.

ATHLETICS IS NOW NEXT WEEK ON TUESDAY 4th DECEMBER (PP WEDNESDAY 5th)

Year 3/4 ATHLETICS DAY 2018
The Year 3 & 4 athletics day is on Tuesday 4 December (PP Wednesday 5 December).
We will begin the events at 9.20am. Children are split into their year groups - each year with an A and B group. This allows us to keep the group sizes smaller. They will move around all the rotations with the same group.

Parents and Whanau are most welcome to come and watch the events and support the children.

All children will need to:
  • wear their house colour
  • wear sensible shoes for running
  • have a large drink bottle of water
  • have a sunhat
  • apply sunscreen before school
We look forward to a fantastic day.
Thanks

A+P Show Thursday

Year 3/4 Christchurch A & P Show Trip
Thursday 15 November

Dear Families

We will travel by bus to the Christchurch A & P Show on Thursday 15  November. The bus will leave English Park at 9.00am. Please ensure that your child is in their classroom by 8.40am so they can put their name tags on, go to the toilet and their teacher and parent helpers will check that they are present and ready for our trip. Children are not allowed to bring any money to the show. If your child is unwell and will not be at school, please ring the office before 8.30 and leave a message.

All children will be assigned to a group and will move around the show with an adult. The children will have their teacher’s mobile phone number written on their arm. We will focus on the animal and farm machinery sections and no children will be taken to the side show area.

We will meet as a team on the Family Lawn for lunch and a roll check at 12.00 noon.
We will leave the show at 2pm as the traffic is likely to be congested.

To ensure that your child has a safe and memorable day at the show, can you please ensure that they have the following items with them, packed into a sturdy school back pack with straps adjusted correctly.

                            • Wear school uniform
                            • Running shoes and socks
                            • School hat
                            • Apply sunscreen before school and bring sunscreen to show
                            • Large lunch
                            • Full water bottle
                            • Warm jacket

You may like to include a small bottle of hand sanitiser for children to use. We will take children to the toilet in groups and will ensure their hands are washed before eating lunch.

We are all looking forward to this exciting trip.

Please ask your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
Kind regards
Kahikatea and Tōtara teachers

K3 EarthCare Deed Of The Day

As part of Amela's current news item last term, each child had to write a statement about a change they had made at home to help our planet earth. Last week, we finally completed it and once everything has been sent, we will recieve 90 tissue boxes for a year. Thank you to Amelia's family for organising this.

Recycled Art Work : Flowers by Kahikatea One

The children In Kahikatea One planned out their art work and collected the materials from home and school they needed to create their amazing flowers. They have used layering to create texture, mixed colours to really appeal to an audience. Come in and have a look then you can really appreciate they way they pop off the wall.
